ChaosbreedSilent Savagery gjorde et intervju med Esa Holopainen i forbindelse med debut-albumet "Brutal" som kom ut 26. April 2004.

Q: Hey guy's congratulates with a record deal and debut-album, what is your thoughts about this?

Esa: We've been very exited about this release, allthough we've been released albums before this feels still like releasing your "debut". I feel myself as 13 years younger.

Q: This statement have been placed on your official webpage: "Locked in the same room they soon found their true mission in life: to teach mankind a lesson or two about the real nature of death metal in true Scandinavian style". What do you guys lay in that? And how to do it?

Esa: Haha! It's a statement in what behind we stand, listen the album. At first place we wanted "retro" sound what  most of our influentic bands had early 90's. To create that you have to have enough humor and enough shitty equipment to find the result which actually works well in this kind of music.

Q: Why did you choose Century Media as your record company, and did you get offers from other labels?

Esa: We got offers from other labels as well but CM was deffinately the only label which was perfect for Chaosbreed. They are also into death metal and have released great albums from Grave & Bloodbath. My close friends Moonspell guys are also on same label and they have told a lot of good about CM so why not...

Q: Where did the production of "Brutal" take place? Was it any problems during the recording process?

Esa: My Amorphis bandmates Niclas & Santeri have studio here in Helsinki where we recorded last Amorphis album as well. As Tomas had some brainproblems we had to cancel Sunlight Studio. There was absolutely no problems at all with recording, everything went smoothly and result was very brutal.

Q: You have titled your debut-album "Brutal", it it any deeper meaning behind that?

Esa: That's what it used to be, music was good if it was enough brutal.

Q: And is it any deeper meaning behind your lyrics?

Esa: Of course, lyrics are brutal as well. They are about stabbing & shitgrinding...

Q: Who makes the music? Is it teamwork?

Esa: Everybody write songs, we put them together at rehearsing place so in that way it's deffinately teamwork.

Q: As i understand, you all guys have other bands to take care off, does it get any effect on Chaosbreed as a band?

Esa: Not that much, In my behalf we don't tour at the moment that much with Amorphis so I have time for Chaosbreed as well. I can separate work between  Amorphis & Chaosbreed as the methods are totally different.

Q: What can your fans expect on "Brutal"?

Esa: total chaos & true death metal.

Q: What is your favorite songs on "Brutal" and why?

Esa: I like Moralized & Shitgrinder, Why? I just happen to like them.

Q: I can see on your webpage that you have played some gigs, what response have you got so far?

Esa: Response has been really great, in Finland there's not many DM bands around anymore so there's need for more DM bands. Everybody are doing this teutonic power metal or black metal. But we are heading better direction.

Q: Will there be any tour linked to your debut-album release?

Esa: For sure, we try to organize something, mostlikely we go for support tour which would make most sense to us.

Q: And now a question from all your fans in norway..is there any chance to ever see you live here?

Esa: I hope so and hopefully soon. I was in Oslo last October with Amorphis in rockefeller and we had great time. Cheers!

Silent Savagery wish you good luck with "Brutal", and..stay metal \m/

Esa: Stay brutal and respect my stamps!
